24 bit file encoding
« on: August 17, 2008, 09:22:34 PM »

I have recently been recording to 24/48 with my edirol r-09. When I am done tracking and have saved, I have encoded with flac frontend with flac decoder 1.2.1. Then, when I try to upload to the archive, I always get errors or md5 failures even when the .md5 goes ok on my machine.

Any advice?

I attached a file of what error message I get when I encode from .wav to .flac.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Search is your friend.  :)  I'll PM my Paypal address with my standard personal search engine rates.  :P

Couple threads on LMA and FLAC v 1.2.1.  The short story:  FLAC 1.2.1 is unsupported by LMA.  Revert to a 1.1.x version and you should be fine.  More details in the threads:

And a couple threads on the FLAC message you're getting:

There's a 1.1.4a and 1.1.4b version. Which is everyone using?

How do you go backwards in flac versions?

Thanks - but my question is how do I uninstall and completely start over with the actual flac version?

Now I have the same question as I uninstalled my 1.7.1 FLAC and tried to install 1.1.4, but I still end up with 1.7.1 ??

FWIW, i'm using 1.2.0 without issue whatsoever.  the LMA problem is *just* with 1.2.1 as far as i understand.

and Belexes, 1.7.1 is the version of FLAC-Frontend.  That doesn't matter at all, only what version of the flac.exe binary you're using behind it.

i'd recommend you stick with the 1.7.1 Flac-Frontend, and install the 1.2.0 flac.exe in order to take advantage of the better compression algorithm *and* faster processing times!

so 1.2.0 is fast and is compatible with the LMA?

also, how do i uninstall?

I'm using 1.1.4a... works great for me and no probs with LMA and md5 checksums/ffp.

sleepypedro,
+t for the suggestion of using 1.2.0, I think I'll give it a try.
