Audix Micros first run......
« on: January 21, 2004, 09:06:34 AM »
Well I did my first run with my Audix Micros (M1290-hc). Man do those little mics rock! An area hard rock/ metal band, Society’s Children. Probably the loudest show I’ve ever been to and they didn’t skip a beat! Set up was a little to close to the stage, almost even with the PA, very small bar, didn’t have much choice.
M1290-hc>ps2>ad-20>jb3
Also had them spaced about 10’ apart, because the lead singer goes right up the middle and climbes allover the bar and tables.
Samples to come if interested.
Matt

They do some covers and some originals, alot of fun. The singer had a little to much to drink and flipped over backwards off of one of the stands, the next song he couldn't remember the words.  A few songs he just babbles to the crowd for ever. He hands the mic to some hot chick in the crowd at the end of the show and she just starts belting out the tune, blows everyone away. I'll post some mp3's later, if you still want a copy I have no problem with that.

Is that 2 different sets of M1290HCs or are they the same mics that Nick got?  If it is 2 different sets, woah...is this the next ADK?

I posted this over in the archive section also:

Just got this from Audix on the Micros

"the current draw of the M1290 is measured to be between 6.05 mA to 6.45 mA."

Wow thems pretty hungry little mics! I thought there was a problem with my ps2 as soon as I plugged in the mics and put the battery in the low batt LED came on, I sent it back for a replacement and the new one did the same so I emailed Audix to see what the draw was. Burned through a 9 volt in about 1 1/2 hrs!

Can I build a RC batt pack for this?

Can I build a RC batt pack for this [PS-2]?

Yup. Runs on 7-24VDC.  I have a 9.6v RC battery pack for mine.  The PS-2 takes a mono 1/8" plug, positive (+) tip.

Don't wire the 1/8" mono plug directly to the battery, use the standard RC connectors so you can unplug the battery from the 1/8" plug.

Why?  Because if you can't separate the RC battery from the 1/8" plug, the only way to remove power from the PS-2 is to unplug the 1/8" plug while it's still hot.  This is a problem as the 1/8" plug will short every time you unplug /plug it in.

That's correct.  Though the 3000 mAH battery may be overkill.

Plug and unplug mini before pluggining and unpluging battery to it, yes?

NO!!  :o  Well, not exactly - half right.  You want to:

[1] Plug IN the mini before plugging IN the battery
[2] UNplug the battery before UNplugging the mini
