On Stage/ Stage Lip Blumlein??
« on: February 25, 2004, 09:30:40 PM »
I have a few shows coming up that I'd like to try running on stage for and JasonB suggested I try running the TLs Blumlein...which seems like fun.

I know HOW to set them up....just not WHERE???

The band is Boston Horns...no/very little vocals and they are very taper friendly.

Can I run this stage lip?  Where onstage would be best......I know DFC but I assume being there my mics might be in the way of the muscians.

Thanks guys....I'm pretty clueless on on stage taping! :)

Stage lip taping is always done DFC in my book, unless running split omni's. Set the stand up 2' high off the stage floor and run them right in the middle.

Can I run Blumlein like that?

+T Jason...I was hoping you'd jump in. :)

ditto what Jason said, I've run this a few times.

if you think the stage lip might not be the optimal spot get to the show really early and ask the band if they mind you setting up on stage. I've done this a few times and they usually don't care. After that check with the FOH engineer and you should be good to go.

you're really going to like the results!

I love running on stage for instrumental bands.  The stereo imaging is incredible!  The Gordon Stone Band show I just put up on the archive was done on stage.  You can hear where every member is on stage.  You'll definately dig it.  Can't comment on blumlein, though, but ORTF on stage is a champ.
