DAT Repair
« on: June 10, 2022, 07:20:14 PM »
I have a Tascam DA-20 that needs work.  I hope all it needs is a good cleaning.  I live in Rhode Island and am having a hard time finding someone to work on this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I have the same machine.  I like it because it is fairly sturdy and smooth.  Usually it is just belts.  If you can afford to ship it, then I use Audio Design & Service in Burbank, California.  All they do is repair old vintage stuff, like ADATs, and DATs.  2625 N Ontario St, Burbank, CA 91504 (818) 754-0467  They will charge you a $75 bench fee to open it up and give you an estimate, and if you repair it, the $75 is applied to the cost.  I've not had a DAT that hasn't run about $200 to clean, replace belts, adjust and bring up to factory specs.  My guess is about $40 to ship it UPS ground.
