trackball?  you mean the little ball on the top that you move with your thumb, or do you mean a normal mouse with the trackball on the bottom.  I can't see any advantages to using a trackball on the bottom when you have the option to use optical.  (i personally don't like the ones on top either, but thats just me)

don't know about wireless, i'm a fan of wires, heh.  but i love my optical logitech i got like 4 years ago.

i have an optical mouse, but not wireless....mouse balls get dirty and don't work right (get your mind out of the gutter)

i would imagine that the wireless optical work just as good as the ones with wires, but i would have to test that theory out myself....oh, and the optical does work very well, better then any other mouse system

i had a wireless optical, worked well- ate through batteries like a mofo (ended up doing the rechargable thing).

i prefer using a trackball though- much easier to do design work on a trackball

Yes the one with the ball on top but you have to get used to it. I have a wireless one and it works great, at least for me.

I like the Belkin mini usb wireless optical mouse.  Like the others said - it loves batteries.  I haven't been impressed with it for gaming tho.
