some how, i don't understand how or why, but minidisco is $20 cheaper selling SP's gear than SP.

yeah, aaron is right. I really don't know what $20 buys you to differentiate from the SoundPro SP-CMC-2A mics's (brad's link) and the SP-CMC-2 mics... looking at them, the only thing I can think of is that the -2 are a little more 'staut' with the windscreen off? .. I don't know .. the -2A mics looks plastic bodied where the -2 mics are metal I believe? ... who knows .. but regardless.. great mics!

and stoked you read that mraz post man .. wow, I put that up there at most 3 weeks after I recorded my first gig (mraz 2002-08-29). Such a newbie but giving out the advice that I had received at the time. crazy. I know a lot more now .. I should really update the post or at least put more to it.. there have been a few Q&A's in that thread over the years. glad you're taping buddy!

It's a n00b rig, but I still love it, 5 years later! I have no desire whatsoever to 'upgrade'. I figure it does a good enough job doing the task I want it to do (recording the music) so i'd rather take that $1000 and use it elsewhere... ;)

 The price difference is because the mics you have. SP-CMC-2A, from minidisco "utilizes a matched set of Sound Professionals Precision Cardioid microphones" and the SP-CMC-2 mics from SP "utilizes a matched set of Audio Technica AT831 Cardioid microphones". So the CMC-2A is not technically AT 831's. I think the SP branded mics use Panasonic elements correct?

Actually, I think you can get an IRiver iHP120 on eBay for right in that range....

Actually, I think you can get an IRiver iHP120 on eBay for right in that range....

flash recorder in that range tho....try multiplying it by at least 2 (on the high end of that listed range)

Ive got a Sharp MT90 and used it for about 3 years and never had a single problem with it....other then operator error.  I think the first gen HIMDs are in the price range now.

Hello to everyone here :)

this is my first post so forgive me if I'm doing something wrong, I've tried to read carefully all the newbies instructions (also saw 'Posting and you'  :lol: :coolguy:) but sometimes had problems with the language so maybe not everything was understood

anyway I live in Warsaw, Poland (is there anyone from PL here?) and don't know much about how to record a show, so please help me ::)
I only tried once on digital mono dictaphone but it was completly awful

but next month one of my favourite bands (dEUS) will play in Warsaw so I want to tape it much better than my first taoed gig, but I don't have to much money to spend for it (about 100$ maximum 120$)
so can anyone advise me please if I can purchase some reasonable stuff [1-5] for that price (well I know that only used stuff is possible for 100$) and where to look for it
I've searched eBay and there are not too much mics that look nice, but maybe anyone here has some older equipment to spare

also any tips for absolute begginer how to solve my problem and where exactly look for it here in forum will be appreciated :D
