WL 5 crashes w/ 24 bit files
« on: August 17, 2007, 11:32:56 AM »
I am having trouble w/ my new 24 bit files off my R4 and saving them after I edit. I recorded a local bluegrass band MS 24 bit 96 two files one 1.4gb the other 2gb. I opened the files in WL 5 and decoded the ms and go to save and it crashes. I tried to cut out half and save and still crashes. I tried opening the file in CD WAV to track in two files but it crashes after ten or so minutes. Did I miss a preference on WL 5 I need to set or some thing on CD WAV? Thanks in advance for any help.
Peace

are you running vista with your WL 5?

My ML worked great on XP.  moved to Vista and it crashes for pretty much anything.

another reason why Vista sucks ass.

FWIW.  I've been doing all my 24/96 editing with SoundForge and Vegas.  Very easy and works like a charm.
I actually work for a living with music, instead of you jerk offs who wish they did.

bwaaaahahahahahaha.... that is awesome!

I am using Vista and I should have known this was the weak link because when I finally got it to work I had to right click open w/ wl5. does SF and Vegas work w/ Vista? Also why am I still having trouble w/ CD wav? Is this a vista thing also or pc? I have plenty of HD space.

Microsoft sucks.
I totally agree and am thinking about doing my Wayword Sons show from last night w/ Audacity on the Good Ole' Mac until I find a way to get XP again.

yes.  Soundforge and vegas both work with vista.

I DL'd mine from  ??? and they work fine.

Unfortuantely WL 5 will not run on Vista. you have to upgrade to WL6 which also requires the steinberg usb key. SF8 & SF9 work on Vista.

HUGE pain in the ass finally figuring this one out. Now I run an xp machine purely for music and editing with the vista machine for everything else. Seems like someone would build a patch so that WL5.1b would run on vista.

Good luck!
