Title: UA5-JB3 TOSLINK TO MINI OPTICAL CABLE?
Post by: spoolin on March 20, 2008, 04:52:51 PM
Hey Folks,
Is there a toslink optical to a mini optical cable out there? to use with my ua5-jb3
Without having to use a mini adaptor? Did not see any listed in the FAQ jb3.

                               thanks

These are getting harder and harder to find. You are looking for a 3.5mm toslink connector which will turn up a little bit more in google than "mini" I suppose.

The ones I saw look a little suspect:

Given the way the mini input on the JB3 is a little fussy - it has low clearance on the side due to the case plastic - I would still prefer some of the adapters. This one works good with a JB3.

Using the adapter brings the cost down a bit too so you can use nicer cable for the same cost.

I have actually seen these at Walmart.  Right next to the cables and adapters for hooking up VCRs and DVD players.

I'm not saying Wally has the best quality, but if you are in a hurry it's probably OK for a while.

I started out with adapters too, but I actually managed to find a "native" toslink>mini with right angles on both sides! Made it so much more convenient to run the UA5 with the connectors facing down in my gear bag, without worrying that any adapter will disconnect.

I bought my RA>RA cable from an Ebay vendor called nuttydad2001. He doesn't list any now, but if you drop him a line he should be able to source for them:

If you run out of luck, there are plenty of straight cables on Ebay, starting at $1.95!
