Title: Multi-Channel Pre/AD Recommendations & Questions
Post by: Ryan Sims on July 13, 2008, 08:51:40 AM
I've found myself in need of more channels of pres as I slowly fill my mic closet.

I definitely want to go the computer route and it seems most of my options are Firewire-based, no problem.

I've browsed through and seen several options in what I suppose my price range is. Standing out so far are the Presonsus Firestudio, MOTU 8pre, and M-Audio ProFire2626.

Anyone know of anything else in that range (<$700)? I know the budget isn't great, but I feel like I can can get a quality piece in that range. Or I hope, at least.

Anyway, let me know your experiences/thoughts/etc.

Thanks in advance. ;D

Ryan

Go with the ProFire.  All three units you listed are good, but sonically it wins out over the Presonus and MOTU units (IMO).

Nice to hear that! I was actually a little hesitant about that one.
