Title: Sony Vegas question

Hi,  When I get ready to render a video in Sony Vegas, I first use a bitrate calculator (http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm - thanks Guitard!) to find out the max bitrate possible.  I used to use constant bit rate and I just plugged the calculated bitrate (from the website) - minus about 200-300 for audio etc -  into Vegas as the constant bitrate.  This worked fine.

I am now using 2 pass variable bitrate in Vegas.  In Vegas there are 3 places to enter bitrate for VBR (max, average, and minimum).  In the web-based bitrate calculator, there are two bitrates produced, "Calculated Bitrate" and "DVD Max Bitrate"  Here is my question: What value(s) do I use from the web bitrate calculator to plug into the 3 VBR options in Vegas?  TIA!

the calculated bit rate should be entered into vegas as the average bitrate (less room for audio and menus).

For the minimum and maximum values - just go with the defaults (I think they are 192 for minimum and 9.5K for maximum).  There are some warning messages in some authoring programs that will tell you that 9.5K is too high - and that used to be true ten years ago - but is not an issue now.

The key is the average bitrate.
