Title: Dither/Resample
Post by: Uncle Jimmy on March 22, 2004, 01:10:58 PM
OK Kids,

  This gets a treatment every once in a while, but here is another one. I am using audacity (totally cool program). I load the file into the program, by opening a wav file or recording from my soundcard. There is an algorithm for dither (high-quality and regular). The high quality dither happens upon export to wav. Also, I need to downsample 48 to 44.1 which I can do with audacity, also.

  Question? Any problem with dithering? Downsampling? What if i dither to save a wav to 48. Then i reopwn the wav, downsample to 44.1. Any problems there?

Thanks everybody,
Jim

Dither = change bit depth
Resample = change sampling rate. Resampling from 48 to 44.1 is analagous to downsampling to 44.1

Can't answer your audacity questions tho, sorry, but it sounds like you're on the right track.
