Title: Nbob actives > Naiant pfa (Educate Me)
Post by: Papaphunk on May 31, 2022, 09:28:35 AM
I currently use AKG CK63 / 61 Caps with c460b / c480b Modules. Pretty happy with the pulls I've been producing, but listening to come of Ryan and Chris Pulls has me curiuos about the nBob Actives > Naiant pfa solution with my AKG Caps.

Currently listening to this and sounds great.

Are these generally available somewhere.....cost.....ease of use....how much of an upgrade would it be over my current setup soundwise.....please advise.

If you want a set contact Nick Schoepsnbox!  Price will vary depending on the build you want.  Here is the retail thread.

^ Yep and I believe I read somewhere that you can email Jon at Naiant about getting new PFAs made.

As far as a sound difference, I don't know that I could tell too much of a difference switching between bodies/actives - they both sound great. It's a heck of a lot easier setting up actives though, and saving a few minutes during setup/teardown at each show is valuable enough for me to justify the expense, not to mention the size advantage.

mostly a footprint dealio. Ive run both the nbobs and Naiant versions (currently have nbobs). makes it nice to not have to need the bodies (as they age etc). lots of cool small mounts to be had, less weight in the bag or dangling above crowds

It's the same fitting for the capsules as what I bought from you with that AKG active > nBox setup, But it terminates to a mini XLR that plugs into the Naiant PFA, which is the size of an XLR.

Ok, that makes sense. I got away from that nBox setup as I was tiring of charging those 9 Volt batteries and worried about them making it through a longer (4+ hour) show. This solution might make sense if the price is right. Something to think about down the road, thanks for everyone's response.

The current generation of NBox has solved that issue too.  Getting  30 to 40 hours per set of 9 volts.

Truth. When I had an nBox Platinum I left it switched on for a week. Took it out for a show (I realized I'd left it on all week while setting up at the show) and it ran perfect. Powerex 9V rechargeables.
