Title: Canare Star Quads vs Mini Star Quads
Post by: terrapinj on June 13, 2005, 01:04:39 PM
I have read the posts regarding the use of the Canare Mini star quads but most seemed to  be discussing the fact that they were switching to using the Minis and were from last year. Very few had any specifics about any difference between the two except for physical size and gauge. Those of you that have run both standard and mini canare's do you notice any difference in quality between the two? Is there any advantage to running the standards instead of the minis? Did you have a harder time making the cables using the minis? About to purchase materials from Markertek (I have read about their numerous fuckups - but they seem to redeem themselves when they do) to make some XLRs and would greatly appreciate any feedback about using the mini star quads.

Thanks

I am wondering whether I should sell my 15' star quads and make a set of mini star quads. Do you use the same neutrik ends?

I've made both standard and mini starquad cables using identical Neutrik ends. Both sound the same but I had a little more difficulty soldering the mini than the standard cable. One of the few times having six arms would be an asset.

Yup, I can definitely see that being an issue.
