iMac --> ??
« on: February 19, 2011, 04:15:11 AM »
Hey Everybody,

Looking for a little advice on some monitors to hook up directly to an iMac. Just looking for something with plenty of punch. Budget is 300-500. Ideas? Thanks!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my PSB Alpha B1's.  Definitely a big bang for the buck.  They can be had for $225/pair on line.

That would leave a considerable amount of your budget for an integrated T Amp (Parts Express or Ebay) and a DAC if you wished.  It would be quite a good setup.

I've been thinking about the two below, was considering Genelec 6010A's until I auditioned them.  Still waiting to try the B&W's but did try the KRK's and they were excellent.  Both are self powered so no extra amp is needed and are in the upper end of your budget range.

2nd the KRK's, I was very impressed what I have heard of them.  I havent heard the other recommendations, but I trust Gumbino's opinion on sound.
