She did another last night.
I'll post the YouTube link when it's up.

She is a real treasure.
BTW, it was not me who posted, "wow, you're cute!" to Sylvia in the chat

Yeah I watched the whole thing, and rewound lots of parts to watch again and make sure I didn't miss much! thanks!

Awesome way to capitalize on the opportunity to preserve this amazing collection. I look forward to more from Sylvia.

Thanks for the promo, we (AES PNW Section) have had a great time doing these with Sylvia and Chris.

I am editing the 2nd video now and it may take a few days. We want to take out breakout room gaps and split out the ending gabfest. We know they had one camera reversed - we caught another one beforehand, but only because we could see lettering. Making a note for when Part 3 comes. Zoom also records with audio out of synch about 7 frames and in mono.

It's more fun to be there live because you can chat with them!

First off- kudos to whomever had the idea to make these highly informative videos.
As a former AES member, I now get that this was a session for part of a virtual AES convention?
So damn cool.
BTW- I do not think the video was that rough. A couple of parts coming in and out of the breaks had accidental voice overs but so much information presented with examples. LOVE it!!!

Glad to see you onboard !

Many thanks for the efforts and the sharing

Sylvia has many videos posted, including the Abbey Road Microphone Collection Tour.
She has her own site with a store of very cool stuff, like vintage "Unobtainium" Compressors    ;)

I got the notice of the Collection 2nd Presentation from an AES mailing, but it wasn't a National convention.   Perhaps part of a PNW bigger event ?

I think anyone active as a professional in the industry or as an Engineering student at an affiliate should explore AES membership.
The resources are great and the field ever-expanding.

Just finished watching in sections over the course of a few days.
Very cool to see.  Thanks for sharing this and I look forward to the next one if made available.

We are glad people enjoy these; they are presented as a regular activity of the PNW Section ("Seattle area") of the AES, but Zoom lets us offer them worldwide. Similar things are done at AES international conventions, but these were not part of an AES Convention. Who knows, the convention committee might want to someday. We do what we can locally.

We first connected with Sylvia in 2019, when she was in Seattle/Redmond anyway and agreed to come do a presentation for the AES PNW Section [ https://www.aes-media.org/sections/pnw/pnwrecaps/2019/jul2019/ ].

After the pandemic started we wondered about presentations on Zoom to keep people involved, and Sylvia had acquired the Paquette collection and moved to Oregon from NorCal. That led to SMMBMM part 1.

We present a lot of our content for free but can't do everything. Check out TS regular DSatz on the history of Telefunken in the U.S.: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xmF-A3ITEQ ]

We'd really would like to return to having in-person meetings, but may not be able to offer them all simultaneously to Zoom (production challenges on a budget of zero). The pandemic still dictates.

I view AES membership as a way to support such activities, and there are other discrete benefits. You can check for our activities at our homepage [ https://www.aes.org/sections/pnw/ ], but Sections all over the world have meetings and presentations. We like to think ours are particularly good...

We finally have the Zoom video from Sylvia's December 7, 2021 presentation up on YouTube:

There is some repeat information, and it was organized differently, but still fun.
