disassembly of DR100mkIII
« on: April 07, 2022, 05:14:47 PM »
Well,. I received our new used deck from Rippleish20 so I began working with the old deck and a service manual. I managed to get the top plate off, I'm at a sticking point on further disassembly, I may have to figure out how to pull all the guts free from the case, I'll give it some time (and thought!) to avoid damaging anything. Anyone have one of these open please let me know. Bob

Hey man…  for yer sake…  I seem to recall a few really good descriptions of ‘tear downs’ of a small recorder or two that jerryfreak documented pretty well somewhere here on TS.  I don’t have links..  and I don’t recall him opening up a DR100, but maybe his posts might help you out.  Crazy universe.  …   :spin:

There is a disassembly of DR100mkII video on YouTube. Lots of things to take apart to get to that circuit board...
AKG C480B (ck61, ck63, ck8) /  Neumann KM100 (AK40, AK50) / Audio Technica AT4050ST/ AT853s  (cardiod, omni) / CA-14 (cardiod) / CA-11 (Omni) / Mixpre-10t / Mixpre-6 / Roland R-07 / Zoom F-3

I've checked for disassembly info a lot on line,  Dr40? yeah, but my dr 40 works just fine. The dr100mkII video was really sketchy, only showed partial info on stuck mic cable, and that was pretty useless. It has to be pretty specific, the dr100mkII comes apart from the bottom with screws, the mkIII? No such luck. It is a whole diff. body and assembly. But I appreciate the responses, it's a long shot at best. Getting the surface plate off was a little difficult, but I managed it. I'll do my best to figure it out, it would be good to get it functioning as a back up unit.

Made further progress, got bottom off, unplugged and removed internal battery, good to know that if replacement is needed in future, labor at $139 an hour makes even battery replacement expensive. exposed 1st circuit board. I must remove that to access 2nd board where USB port is. I'll wait another day as I'm only able to do this early in the morning while my eyes and hands (and brain!) are at their best.
