Tascam recommendation
« on: May 24, 2022, 03:18:27 PM »
I have my choices narrowed down to 3 recorders, and need some help on picking one out. This will be used in mostly smaller venues (500 people or less), and I will be using: AT853 > Battery Box > recorder.

TASCAM DR-03
TASCAM DR-07
Tascam DR-05X

I'm finding these all within about 20 bucks of each other, so basically the same price. Any help would be appreciated!
AUD: Zoom H2
SBD: Tascam DR-60D

Just a couple of questions/comments -

 - DR07 or DR07x ?  I think the mic set up is different.
 - DR05 is a decent all around recorder.  Nothing fancy but good size and easy to operate.
 - DR03 only records 24/48 vs 24/96 for the other two. Not sure if that matters to you.

Have you looked at a Roland R07? About half the size of the Tascam ones plus control app for your phone via Bluetooth (might be a little flakey). Think its about the same cost wise.
DR2d, DR-05, DR-22wl, DR-40, DR-44wl, DR-608, PCM-M10, Roland R-07, PCM, PCM-A10
CA-14 card/omni, AT853 cards/omni, Nak CM-300 cards/omni, Line Audio CM4

If you can find a used DR-2D that would be my choice.  I have a bunch of them.

I only record in 16/44, so that wouldn't matter in my case.

Unfortunately the ones I can find are about twice the price of the ones I listed, at least that aren't just for parts

I got one for $100 plus shipping 2 weeks ago.  Often on ebay there is make an offer.  Offer $100, they can always say no.
