v2, mme, hosa odl 312, walmart lion
« on: November 18, 2004, 01:50:14 PM »
I have a V2, MME, Hosa ODL 312, can I power all of those on a walmart battery?  How many batteries would it take?  If I wanted to run mme and hosa on same power how would I wire that?.  Just wire them in parellel at the same spot?   WOuld that be too fat?  Should I wire them further down the line (like the way a tree branch splits off)?  Also can I lop off the 4 pin connecter and wire it to the walmart battery?  What is the wiring on that.  Thanks, confused

fwiw, i'm building Bean a voltage regulated "junction box" with multiple voltage outputs with a single voltage input. in his case, he can run many gear and only carry ONE power source whether it's a 7.2v, 9.6v or 12v.

depending on what the v2, mme and the hosa's operating voltage is, it's not to difficult to run all 3 from a single power source. just make sure your batter is fused properly.

marc, when you say thi, dont you mean multiple voltage inputs instead of multiple voltage outputs ???

cause i could run 7.2v/9.6v/12v for the jb3 and have no worries of which is which as long as it has a 4-pin on the input end, now on the output, didnt we say that we could get the voltage out to stay at 4.7v ???

bean;
you're correct. you can have variable power sources (7.2 and higher), but the output will be regulated to 5v for the jb3 and a second one which will equal to the input. hence 2 outputs.

still a bit confused as to wehy the input+output thing applies too, does it have to be that way, like say 9.6v>9.6v
                        >5v

or can you just do something like 9.6v>6v
                                                     >5v

thanks marc

bean;

answer is yes. it will be easy to design it for various outputs. the reason for one of the outputs to have equal voltage as input was because someone could use the higher voltage to run...let's say a HOSA, ua5, etc.; and the 2nd output will be regulated at 5v (or 6v, etc.)

the LM317 VR chip is very versatile and the circuit can be configured to have various outputs.

can you send me a PM and lmk what your input voltage will be, and what output voltages you need?
