basic DVD Architect authoring help
« on: August 13, 2007, 05:28:56 PM »
I'm getting extremely frustrated with DVD Architect and its help file...

I've got a 30min/9 song recording that I've imported and inserted the appropriate chapter markings. Now what I want to do is create a simple two-screen menu: one screen that has the title of the disc plus the options 1) play all and 2) song selection. And the second screen will be the song selection with each song listed by title (rather than screenshot buttons).

But, try as I might, I can't seem to convince the program to let me do this. I'm sure there is a fantastic tutorial out there somewhere but finding it is going to need more vigorous Googling than I can muster this evening. If anyone can point me to such a thing or give me a couple of basic pointers as to how to achieve my fairly dull menu, please let me know...

Edit: I seem to be making some headway with this now - tried to delete this post but the system won't allow...

1. Insert Media - add your video file (asuming you added chpaters in vegas)
2. Rt. click on it to edit text, change button style etc
3. Rt. click > Insert Scene Selection Menu. Rt. clcik on this obect and edit text to say "Chapter Selection, Songs etc
4. Double - click object to edit it or you can use Window on the left

BlackLab gave you the answer you needed.

Another great place to ask questions like this is at Sony's forums:

Have you downloaded the user's manual for DVDA?  It's pretty straight forward, and very easy to follow once you got some basic knowledge of the program.  That's also available at Sony's site.

Thanks for the replies. I've pretty much got the hang of it now; my problems were caused by lack of patience on my part plus DVDA's slightly non-intuitive approach to certain things - eg needing to press "F2" to edit text rather than having it appear on a menu when you right-click the text.

Still, Vegas + DVDA = much goodness, as far as I can tell. All I need now is several massive hard drives and I'm happy  :)
