Shock mount for DIN NOLA bar
« on: January 05, 2013, 09:55:07 AM »
Need to keep the cost below $50 and am searching for a shock mount for a DIN NOLA bar.
Seriously ready to pull the trigger on the Avantone SSM but cannot find any specs related to the size of this mount.
Can anyone tell me the length of the Avantone and whether or not it will work with a DIN NOLA bar ?
Also open to suggestions for this particular bar that would not break my $50 budget.

I don't know the exact measurements but the Avantone will work. It's solid metal so it can be a little heavy if weight is a concern.

You can also checkout the Superlux HM-32, which is basically a plastic version for cheaper. Just double up on the o-rings for a tight fit on the DIN bar.

If it's a schoeps mount any of the 20mm options should work. I have a schoeps a20s but they are pricey. I have the busman mount too which had a 22mm cradle but purchased the schoeps cradle for 12 bucks and swapped it out. Joe meek products had a similar mount to the busmans but not sure if you can find those now. I've also heard the Shure donut mount will work well. Hope this helps in the search.

Still recommend spending the little extra coin for Rycote, best shock mounts out there.
In addition to the ones mentioned it the other thread Rycote also offers INV-HG mkIII which is really nice.

I have both the Rycote DigiGal mentioned and a couple A53Ms.  Honestly, I usually reach for the A53Ms. The Rycote is the superior mount, and for critical applications, should be the go-to, but...

I also have a couple of the shures, and they work great. A Schoeps A20S grips the mounts better tho ;)

after all the replies and seeing countless pictures of this shock mount on various rigs, I just ordered the Shure from B&H.  Even after upgraded shipping it was still well within budget. Thanks all !

If you happen to have any issues with the mount sagging or slipping in the donut, just put a couple wraps of electrical tape around the bar and that will snug it up.
