Has anyone measured the plug in power voltage on the Tascam DR-07?

I notice your signature line says you own one - can you borrow a multimeter and measure it yourself?  The easiest way would be to get a minplug > RCA cable, plug it into the mic jack, turn on the plug in power, and measure the voltage between the center plug and the sleeve of one of the RCA connectors.

I just tested mine and I got 2.38 V.

Seems sort of low. I'm going to put a full charge on the batteries and try it again.

Shouldn't it be about 5V?

Cool, thanks.  That's pretty much in line with the R09, and what I'd expect from most gear that runs off 2xAAs, but doesn't match the 5V I saw published online in a comparison chart that had me interested (but skeptical).

It would be interesting to see if it measures any higher with fresh batteries, but I doubt it will come anywhere near 5V.

Edit: I can't find Tascam's own specs for PIP on the DR-07, but they state 2.3V for the DR-1, seems about right:  http://www.tascam.com/products/dr-1;9,12,3594,16.html

Yep, this is what TEAC officially says. I even asked the support about it last year.
Weird. Could you measure the PIP while connected to AC?
Or is this marketing department snake oil figures?

    Hello,

The DR-1 also provides 5,4 V phantom power.
The built-in small diaphragm condensers of the DR-100 are also of a higher quality than those in the smaller models. Having said that, the DR-07/DR-1 have won quite a few awards for their exceptional sound quality.
