Title: Marantz Pro Division sold to inMusic
Post by: 404 Not Found on May 23, 2014, 11:48:47 AM
Not sure what may be in store for Marantz and the PMD pro series recorders, as they have been sold to inMusic along with the Denon Pro and Boston-Acoustics Division.

D & M had been quoted  that the new business strategy will be "to focus on the consumer".

My PMD661 has been a workhorse for years, even if it's now more or less just a bit bucket.  Curious to see if the market changes for these PMD recorders?

D & M Holdings sold McIntosh Labs back in October 2012, looks like they are thinning themselves down.

Makes sense that D&M Holding is thinning themselves out to concentrate more on one line.  Should mean better support for the pro products (with any luck).

That was my initial thought as well, however inMusic will be taking over the pro market products and leave D & M to the consumer products:

"Under the new strategy, D&M’s focus “will be on consumer” through its Denon, Marantz and Boston Acoustics consumer-audio brands, he previously said. - See more at: http://www.prosoundnetwork.com/article/inmusic-buys-marantz-denon-pro-divisions/17773#sthash.GH55Evf0.dpuf (http://www.prosoundnetwork.com/article/inmusic-buys-marantz-denon-pro-divisions/17773#sthash.GH55Evf0.dpuf)
