i just added a 2nd internal HD thinking it shouldn't be a problem...low and behold, when i go into my computer the drive isn't listed. First power up, the computer recognized new hardware and began to install. Opened MyComputer thinking i should format the HD, but none of the drives list it, and when i search for new hardware to be added nothing is listed.
Can a dual AMD HP computer not handle 2 internal HDs??

If you have WXP go to the install hardware icon in the control panel and try that. WXP is pretty smart and should do the job. It may have burped the first time.
Cheers

did you set the jumper to slave on new hd?
right click my computer>manage>disk management. is it listed there?
maybe your bios needs to be flashed?

Disk management, and it should show as unallocated. Right click on it and allocate and format. That should do it.
