Title: Project rate of 144100 in Audacity?
Post by: Massive Dynamic on September 07, 2020, 08:39:55 PM
Anyone else using Audacity (v2.0.3) ever see a Project Rate of 144100 Hz (displayed in the lower left)? I imported a standard 16/44 file to do my standard tracking routine, and only noticed the weird sample rate partway through tracking. After exporting the files, they did have a sample rate of 144100, confirmed in another audio editor. The file sizes were correspondingly huge. I deleted all of the files and started over, but wondered what might have caused the error.

I am running a newer old version (2.1.0, MacOS) and I can type any number I like in there. Seems like an accidental keystoke could cause the issue you mention.

I did notice that. I use CMD-1 and CMD-3 for zooming in/out, so maybe I put a "1" in the Project Rate window somehow. It's never happened before, but I'll be sure to check it next time. I thought that settings in preferences would override when exporting files.

I was always under the impression that the lower left corner box is the way to set sample rate for file output (and for playback).

I've got some shows where I have two sources to mix but one is 44.1 and one is 48k, and if I import the 44.1 first, it sets the session to 44.1, despite my preference setting of 48k as default.
