so there definitely has been talk in the playback forum on Arcam's gear. seems a lot of people like it. I listened to some of my recordings at the local "Playback Slutz 'R Us" place called Music For Pleasure here in St. Louis. I listened to a cd in the Arcam CD73>transparant cables>Arcam A65 plus>transparant cables>Dynaudio Audience 52s. Damn did that sound great! but that's about $3000 worth of playback gear. i'm looking to spend around half that. ;)
however the Arcam A65 plus was quoted to me at $600 new. now that ain't so bad. a lot people said they really like the arcam integrated pre with B+W speakers as well. Can anybody recomend a pair speakers that could be had for around $500 for the pair and still sound pretty good with the nice Arcam? Or can somebody recomend another integrated pre ands speakers at the same price range? the guy at the store told me the arcam is the most bang for your buck and fluffed it a bunch.
looking at buling up my first playback and i'd like to do myself right the first time around. :) just curious as to some opinions.
Many thanks in advance!

i run the arcam avr 200 with psb image 5ts. They retailed for about $800, but with the new image line out, these go for as low as $500 a pair. Might be worth checking out.

would you consider the psb image 5ts a very clean and neutral speaker? that's kind of what i'm going for. thanks for the suggestion! +t

Morel is running a great sale on their Renaissance MLP-403.5. <$600 shipped.
I owned a set of Arcam amps (integrated + amp for biamping) and thought they sounded very nice for the $$. Good place to start an audiophool addiction.

damn...i hope that deal is still around in a few months. thanks anyways.

You could try the B&W DM602's, they'd probably work nicely and you could always add a sub later if you feel the need.
I've got an Arcam Alpha 10 w/ B&W DM604's and I think it works out pretty well together. I may actually sell the Alpha 10 soon and try one of the Sony digital receivers... as I've been considering moving to a surround setup anyways.

I'm gonna pimp the Ascend Acoustics again...."clean and neutral" they are!
