« on: April 12, 2007, 04:14:44 AM »
Hi, i looking for these impedances. Mic-in and Line-in.
I own a RH1 but it would be the same for all the HiMD i think..
Anyone know that?

Thanks
DPA 4061   -> mini-xlr -> Homemade bbox -> iriver ihp-120
SP-CMC-4u -> mini-xlr -> 3-wire preamp     -> iriver ihp-120

Usually Sony MD inputs are very similar if not identical.  Sometimes the input/line impedance is noted in the owners manual on the specifications page.  Typically MIC input is ~ 4700 ohms, LINE is usually ~10 times higher at 47000 ohms.

This is why bass filters designed for mic inputs don't work well using line inputs.

Thanks, so what i have to do is to make a "varying" bass roll off depending of my input...

hm
this is the reason why my cmc8 -> spsb8 -> mt2496 (line-in) records have no bass?

good to know ^^

i though the bass roll-off settings have been wrong :(

Usually the LINE input is 10x higher ohms, so bass filter would have 10x LOWER frequency point of operating.

If a filter working MIC input is rated at ~100 cycles, and if instead is working into a typical LINE input, that same filter would be rated for 10 cycles which is like having NO BASS reduction.

So your lack of bass working into LINE input doesn't explain why there's not enough bass for your tastes in the recording.

So here is the truth  ;D
My father had mesured the impedances on saturday and here are the results.
For  the MZ-RH.
Mic in : 6800 ohms
Line in : 68000 ohms

Hope this can help you.

How did you measure them? Using a load and ohms law? or a Ohm meter? Or an impedance meter?

I don t know if he wants another child...but why not if u come to France. He is building for me a 3-wire bbox with preamp so that the impedance won t be a problem with a line in or mic in input...can t wait having it    ::).....

Ok well if he does not want another child I understand, if he can just send the impedence meter that would be sweet :) Thanks...

Chris
