What shockmounts are good for AKGC1000's?
« on: February 19, 2004, 02:58:23 PM »
I have these HUGE "Universal" shock mounts right now.  Is there a brand smaller that a C1000 can fit?

almost twice that of a SE300b
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

i used the c1000's with the sabra universals, not sure if they would fit the AT8410's, they are really beefy mics, i'd just stick with the universals and if you want to upgrade to sturdier universals, go with the at8415's

IIRC, aren't the c1000s internally shockmounted?  so additional mounts aren't that necessary unless you're going to be in a heavy traffic area...

c1000s won't fit in an AT8410...they're better than twice the size.

The only options really are the clips that come with the mics, the Sabra Som mounts, or there's actually a larger AT shockmount (though I can't remember the model - 8420 maybe?) that will work, but is really pricey.

I used the the Sabra Soms when I ran the c1000s, they're not the best mounts in the world...but they worked.

Right now nothing...in the past: Schoeps CMC6, AKG 480, AKG 460, AKG 414, MBHO 603a, Neumann KM100, ADK TL>Schoeps MK4, Schoeps MK2, Schoeps MK41, AKG ck61, AKG ck62, AKG ck63, Neumann AK40, Neumann AK50, MBHO ka200>Lunatec V2, Lunatec V3, Apogee Mini-Me, Oade M148, Oade M248, Sound Devices MP2, Sonosax SXM2>Sony (mod)SBM1, Apogee AD500>D7, D8, D100, M1, R1, R4, R09, iRiver HP120, Microtrack

The C1000s are internally shockmounted, but you still can pick up noise if jarred.

I guess the 8415s were what I was thinking of...I'd started writing my post, then had to minimize the window for a half hour or so (still at work), then by the time I finished it I see cpclark had already posted basically the same thing...

Sorry for the bandwidth waste!

the clips they came withare also semi-shock-absorbing. in over 100 shows i never got stand noise once from my C1000s.  i had sabra-soms for two shows but they got crushed in my stand bag thanks to delta airlines. frankly, i was  sscared to run the mics in shockmounts cause they are so heavy - it just made the top of the stand more unstable.

edit - aren't those my old c1000s you are asking about?

Not too sure.  Are you the one I bought them off of?

Thanks for all the input.  The Shockmounts I use are pretty large, but I guess I can live with them.

nah, I'm the one with your old C1000s.  Transferring a tape I made with them right as I type this, actually.  :D
