who handhelds mics? sweaty in the hat fob?
« on: March 05, 2004, 08:02:49 PM »
just curious who handhelds mic stands or shockmounts or tbars (!).  i have a stand that is about to kick it.  i'm thinking of modifying this stand for fob handheld application.  a hat might be better, but i sweat like a --- you know ;)  speaking of--what do you do about hot sweaty shows when running mics in a hat?

Run a T Bar on top of a black bicycle helmet, you'll look like a dork alright but why not?  ;D

handholding mics sucks.  its amazing how heavy a pair of actives get after about an hour.  if you don't want to put them in a hat, try a monopod.  should be easy to find a compact 5.5-6'er, you'll just need to get an adaptor to get from the photo to mic thread.

craig,
i wouldn't mind the mics in the hat--if i can get around the sweat factor :)  i have a stand i'm gonna modify so that it won't have legs--just the sections. i was messing with my mic clamp with the shockmount and mics--looks like that might work--only the mics would be near my chest at about 5 feet or so.

oh, and i don't need my mics on top of a bike helmet to look dorky ;D

bingo.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia
