That Korg looks nice, but what's the deal with no digi in?
Guess they figure they got the best A/D so why bother.

well, the whole idea of the new Korg recorders are to record DSD files.  there are very few A/D converters that will output a DSD stream, and none of the ones that I know of are portable.  so there really would be no need for a digital input in a portable DSD recorder right now.

sorry, ive got the signatures turned off on this board so they dont show up on the posts.

Id like another Rh1 as the RH10s had laser issues causing read/write errors.  What is an M10, are they on clearance at Guitar Center?

Interesting about the read write errors... haven't encountered any of that....
the M10 came out right after the rh10 and rh100....the M10 is equivelent to the rh910 (no light up display) except that it has mac compatibility.

There not on clearance, they have one left in an opened box being sold "as-is".

How do you like the Rh1?...all my legacy md's are begging for it. If I could get that for a decent price that's what I'd go with... time's running out though and the only place I could pick it up at wants $330...... that's just way too much for a disc flipper in todays age of flash and 24bit.

In the year that I had the RH10 i think I had about 4 encounters with the write error and only lost 1 show that i cared to actually have and it was just the encore of 2 songs so no biggie.

I really like the RH1.  Its worlds better then anyother recorder that I've used.  as soon as the house lights drop i slide the record button to the right and put it back in my pocket and its going.  Battery life is excellent.  I taped Moe. and Tea Leaf Green last month and had the display *on* for the entire 3+ hour show and it had 1/2 battery left.  Uploads are WAY faster now vs the RH10.  Didnt mind much if i taped in HISP as it was quick enough to upload an hour set but the PCM tapes would take forever now its like 9 min to upload and convert to wav.  I think minidisco.com has them for $299.99...heres a 5% off code NEWREG5 that will save you $15 bux.  Over all its way better then my old sharp that i had for 5+ years and its much easier to "set it and forget it" then the RH10 since you don't have to change to manual record mode everytime.  The only draw back is that it doesnt have the AA battery side car which is nice for festivals and such.

Aren't you considering the iriver's? h1x0 or h3x0 are really nice options with all you need: 20/40 GB, 16 bit, analog line-in, digital input (h1x0), plays flacs, drag and drop, small and less than $200 if you are a bit patient on Ebay (I've seen many h320's sold for less than $100 past weeks)

I would consider the irivers, but when I was looking at them a while back there was something that came up as a red flag for me, and i haven't bothered reinvestigating to remember what it was....
...is it a powering issue? Can you plug an external battery pack into it? Or was it that it wouldn't record big enough files? I can't remember, but it was something like that.

If the issue was fixed in newer models I'd consider it.... but I'm also constrained to what I can buy at retail stores (in ny/nj) in the next couple days. So ebay's out.

If time is an issue...Chris at Sound Proffesionals can get one out to you ASAP....SP is located in NJ (south) and so am I (central).....If I order something from him that he has in stock I get it UPS ground the next day...Or you can pay extra for it to be overnighted...he may give a discount to TS members.......It's been awhile..so just ask him..

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?category=0

I think he has most of the recorders discused here (except the iriver)in stock...just call him..He has helped me out several times in the past...

I'm not pimpin' for Chris/SP....just trying to help out.. ;D

I've also had good experiences with B&H...but I know some people have had some issues with them..

Peace,
jk

Dis somanumbatching country was founded so that the liberties of common patriotic citizens like me could not be taken away by a bunch of fargin iceholes... like yourselves.

They can be powered with external battery packs (from iriver or other no-brand). Concerning the big files, with Rockbox (the alternate firmware we all use) you can record up to 2 GB and when you reach that, it saves the file and start a new one (with any loss), so you can tape without stop till you fill the 20 or 40 GB in the HD.
And about buy them, you also can check craigslist if you have any near you and pick up one in person, I've heard they go there even cheaper than on Ebay :)
"joekar" has also gave you good options...is just I love my irivers, they are amazing machines :)
