Title: What's the general frequency range of applause? (Trouble with post-processing)
Post by: bbernardini on November 19, 2009, 05:24:23 PM
I'm trying to tweak an AUD recording to brighten it up, but the adjustments that work for the music also boost the applause levels unnaturally high (as well as make it sound like crap). I'm using Audacity with the Apple AUGraphicEQ plug-in. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem (without spending hours adjusting the levels of the applause between each song, especially since, as I said, it sounds like crap with the EQ tweak anyway)?

On edit: I just realized that my question may lead some to point me toward discussions of compression, hard limiting, volume envelopes, etc. I want to be clear that when the recording is not EQed, the applause levels are about the same as the music, or slightly less. This volume issue only happens after the EQ is applied.
