Title: DIY: 25dB attenuator V3->R09-HR
Post by: mblindsey on February 25, 2010, 09:41:24 PM

Many, many thanks to everyone who gave advice.  I have built a couple of attenuator barrels and tried them once with great results.  Here is how I did it (with much community help):

Have a suggestion?  Let me know and I will update the doc.

Nice job!  I just made a xlr > mini for just this purpose.

Thanks for the "How To"!

Now.... What would be interesting is a comp (with lots of low frequency) that compares the cable to the alternative.

Maybe?

source > v3 @ 40db > attenuator > r09

vs.

source > v3 @ 15db > r09

(the choice of 40 and 15 db was arbitrary)

When do those go on sale?

Great stuff! Maybe drawing the schematic out and including it with the step-by-step sequence would help those that want to try this. I've made many similar cables over the years.
