I just discovered how to tell your firmware version on the PCM-M10.
I made a quick video to popularize it, but all you have to do it hold the STOP button for more than 5 seconds, and the display will change to tell you your version number. I have 1.00, on a black color USA model.

I'm curious if foreign versions or the other colors have 1.00? This opens the door to updates, eh? Never knew about that.. ..

Unfortunately, from what I've read and from other long time sony followers, they don't update the firmware. International models are very likely to also have 1.00, but I would be very interested to know if it has something different.

Purchased mine in late August 2010 from B&H. US model, black.
Firmware 1.00

Yeah, I expect everyone has 1.00. To me, the notion that it reads out implies that it might be changeable. I wonder how hard it would be to hack the firmware, and what it might do!? I know of folks who hack Canon Powershots, for instance, to get better time lapse features, manual control, etc.

I too have heard that Sony would not be likely to update, but I never even knew this feature was there.

I bought mine in the Netherlands a year ago (December 2009) and it's also v1.00...

I bought mine in 12/2010 @musicstore.de also V1.00
Id'd like to see Kingston SD Card 32GB fixes in newer firmware version. Already contacted Sony regarding this issue. They mean use a Sony 16GB card ...

Purchased from B&H in 12/2010. Firmware 1.00. I had to watch the youtube video that you made to figure out how to check the firmware version. :P

Does anyone think they'll EVER release new firmware ??? I'd like to see one for 32gb MicroSDHC Cards :)
-
They didn't for the D50 so I wouldn't count on it!

Oh well, I guess if it ain't broke, then don't fix it :)

Bump an old topic today! But a meaningful one, please!?
In light of all this Tascam DR-70D foofaraw, I thought I'd double-check my Sony PCM-M10 firmware version. Yep, holding down the STOP button for 5 seconds (take the beast off hold for this!) will yield 1.00 for everyone.
Wow.
Sony.
The recorder of reference, since 2011.
So solid.
