Title: do these wave forms seem correct
Post by: willndmb on July 13, 2014, 07:23:10 PM
one is soundpro mics > tb > m10
the other is canon r300 (camcorder)
the canon r300 just looks clipped or something at the top
it sounds fine and I didn't see anytime where it was clipping on the on screen meter, in fact the few people who have listened to them actually like the r300 better (that might be because the vocals and everything is louder and in your face). Wasn't sure if thats normal or if something like clipping/brickwall is happening
tia

ps if i can get a clip of each i'll post them for options on that too

Looks like maybe the second source has some compression added. Maybe the camera has that as a  "feature."

I've come to the conclusion that if my wave forms look screwy, but it sounds fine there is nothing to worry about. :)

You have to zoom in to the sample level if you want to see if a signal is clipped.
here is the bottom clip in the top screen shot, zoomed in to 1 sec
