thats sort of what I was thinking. Chinese caps any way, sounds like they source out the rest of the components though with various
European, American and Japanese parts. I'd love to try these out.

The general problem with cheap Chinese mics is an oddly bright top end. Maybe these differ, but I'm not spending 400 to find out.
Monoprice sells some sdcs with accessory caps, but these look to have shorter bodies.
If you could get them with on a trial satisfaction basis, then maybe give them a trial.

I agree, ...many chinese cap'd mics I've owned are tinny and brassy sounding ..and require EQ.
