Title: Another Windscreen Question
Post by: John Kelly on May 11, 2003, 05:00:16 PM
Ok, I've rarely used my mics outdoors, but now that summer's here there's going to be a lot more outdoor shows (I just got my mics in December, not a lot of outdoor shows in the middle of winter).  I have a pair of at933s, and I run them on the Sound Professionals flexible t mount (http://tinyurl.com/1zq6), which I like because I can bend it any way I want.  However, the windscreens on it aren't spectacular by any means.

Are there any windscreens I could get that would fit over these windscreens?  Or maybe another set of windscreens that I could replace my current ones?  I've looked around but I really don't know what exactly I'm looking for...

Thanks.

you could always get the shure screen that fits the sm58, the a58ws.  i was archiving at the beach and forgot my regular screens(b&k) and only had the stock neumanns.  knew it was going to be pretty noisy so i got the screens from the wireless set and put thwm over the neumanns, worked pretty well, although there was an opening at the back.

one way.

I looked at the site, and those things are huge.  The at933s are really tiny...

you could always go to the shack and get some speaker grille fabric.  i put it between the mics and the screen.  cuts down on a LOT of wind noise.  maybe you could wrap yours with it.

Never thought about going to the Rat Shack.  I'll check it out, thanks.  ;D

John,

Rycote now makes a great lav windscreen that fits the at933s.  I couldn't find a retailer link during a quick Yahoo search but I did find this, which isn't the rycote version but would probably work: http://www.trewaudio.com/catalog/items/item64.htm

Peace,

Chris
