Title: Audience/Soundboard DTS 5.1 shows
Post by: taylorc on October 26, 2004, 08:20:03 PM
What's everyone's opinion of shows mixed for 5.1 playback?

Considering two-channel playback is the primary method for achieving an "at-the-show" sound, how would you categorize it...just for fun, overkill, great way to listen?

I grabbed 10.9.1989, but I haven't burned and listened yet...

well 5.1 mixdown isn't the easiest of things ever.  i'd be curious to see it attempted, but the mixdown can be difficult to get right.

After briefly reading this, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I think it might work better if I go into a show knowing I want to mix it in 5.1, as opposed to mixing an existing show in 5.1 (can't imagine anyone in '89 was thinking about 5.1).

The only thing I've done in 5.1 was mix the Flaming Lips, Zarieeka (sp?) album up so I could listen to it with out 4 cd players.

i have a dts 5.1 zaireeka cd if anyone is interested.  the first couple of seconds sound a little weird, but after that it sounds great.
