Hey Guys,
A few weeks ago our Imac's harddrive crashed. I have a few shows that got edited and tracked and put onto my ipod, without backing them up to a physical disc or an additional harddrive. Obviously I have learned my lesson, and obviously I feel stupid as all hell. Bottom line, is that I have a few shows that are no where except for my Ipod.
Now to my knowledge, when a harddrive gets whipped and the operating system gets re-installed, your Ipod will react to the same computer as a different computer. Therefore making you format the Ipod to use it, rather than being able to transfer those files back to that computer. Is this correct?
Since I am pretty sure that is correct, my question is really this; I am planning on transferring these shows from the Ipod to the computer via the headphone out.
What is the best way to do this?
Should I transfer straight from the Ipod's headphone out into my computer and record with my audio editing software (Sound Studio)? Or should I transfer to my 722, then go firewire to the computer? Or would it make sense to use my V3 to go from the Ipod into V3 and then out to the computer using the appropriate cabling?
What are my options, and what should yield the best results?
Of course now all of my recordings are being backed up to an external harddrive and to DVD going forward.
Thanks,
Joe
