akg 460 $$ question
« on: June 06, 2008, 11:54:02 PM »
I have a chance to get a studio used only pair with card & omni caps for $600.  Wanted to get some opinoins on the price.  Sounds like a good deal to me.

yup, very nice deal...6 bills with one set of caps alone is a very fair price.  The additional set makes it a deal and a half.

Thanks for the Input.  I knew it was a killer deal, but just wanted a "push" from TSers to make me pull the trigger.  Should be picking them up locally Monday and running them Tuesday for The New Riders of the Purple Sage in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

My girlfriend got me the C4's for my birthday in April.  I just need to figure out how to explain how they changed color and grew overnight. ;D

There was an E-Bay auction for the exact setup you are mentioning.  Would it be the same?  I had it added to auctions I was watching and the seller pulled the auction.  Just curious.

Very nice, that BIN for $500 was a steal and some moron put in a bid and didn't take advantage of the price!  Glad you were able to get the seller to work with you.

This will be the most expensive set of mics you can buy.  The seductress 460's they ought to call them...  >:D

Just when you are fat dumb and happy pulling perfectly good tapes with your C4's, suddenly your DIY digimod UA-5 > H120 isn't good enough any more.  You'll need a better preamp, and a 24 bit recorder.
For me it was the Earthworks... yes I got a great deal on the mics, and they are nice mics, but then I had to have the V3 and Mod R4 to go with them.  $2000 later... I'm hauling nice gear to the festival in a car worth less than the gear. :help:

my setup is worth AT LEAST 5 times what my car is. Does that suggest a problem? Im happy as long as my car gets me from point A to point B, but my rig has got to sound AMAZING ;D
