Available to transfer your minidiscs.
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:41:28 PM »
I have a Sony MZ-M200 Hi-MD (the last model / fully backwards-compatible with standard MD and one of the only available for performing digital transfers from minidisc to WAV faster than real-time).

Due to some interesting circumstances, I want to use it as much as possible within the next 5 or 6 months. If anyone has some old master minidiscs lying around that haven't been transferred (or have only been transferred via your minidisc's analog output and you want an upgrade) let me know!

Hmm...

this is a surprise to me- I thought the RH 1 was the last of the line?

What does the M200 offer which the RH1 does not? They appear identical...?

Yep, they added a mic and renamed it from RH1 to M200 at some point. It's easier to find an M200 than an RH1. :)

yes- I don't think the RH-1 is made anymore...

there's probably firmware revisions between them though...

I doubt the M200 is made anymore either.  ;)

No problem.

All I ask is that you cover the cost for shipping both ways, and either include blank DVDs for the transferred files or cover the cost for blanks. Also let me know approximately how many discs you're talking about. I don't want to be surprised and overextend myself. If that sounds good, let me know and I'll PM you my address.

Just wanted to bump this thread. So far I've received minidiscs from one person and they've been transferred and mailed back today. I still have a lot of availability to transfer more peoples' minidiscs if anyone has a few (or a bunch) that they need transferred.

Just send me a PM or email to get started.

Also I want to add to my previous post, DVDs are okay but a USB flash drive or other type of flash media with sufficient capacity would be faster and more robust so that would be even better. I'll add a full list of the types of flash media which I can work soon.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Josh! His generosity has helped me transition from MD to SS recording by transferring my earliest recordings with no quality loss. He didn't expect anything in return and sweated all the details nicely (MD5 hash, burned one of his DVD's when mine didn't verify correctly, let me know what was going on at all times).

Just to let you all know -- I have everything set up in my cubicle at work now and I've determined I can transfer 20+ minidiscs per day Mon - Friday. Unless I get bogged down with real work and can't keep up with swapping discs and naming folders, but that shouldn't be a problem on most days.

John (dyneq) was the first person to get discs out to me, and this week I received about 150 from someone else, but I should be done with that set by next Friday. A few other people have been in contact with me but haven't mailed their discs out yet.

I'm wide open to take on more transfer requests!
