Panning in Wavelab 6 Montage
« on: July 13, 2011, 11:48:27 AM »
I've got a multitrack show I did last month and I'd like to pan some of the tracks,
but can't seem to find a way to do that in Wavelab.  Should be simple, right?

Yes, it should be simple....  Depending upon the height of the individual track window, you may or may not see the letters "Lf - Rf" signifying that the tracks are assigned to left front and right front. See partial overview picture for this....

If you have more than 4 tracks open then the view magnification may be set too low to have room to include this. It happened to me with 8 tracks from this show. Change the zoom with the zoom tool in the lower right side of the window.

Anyway, click on the area with the letters to get the panning dialog box, see pic.... Simple right? I now use reaper for multitrack but still use Wavelab for 2 track stereo editing, it is very good for that!  Reaper is much better for me for mixing down to 2 tracks, though. Many reasons why, try it out at reaper.fm.

you can download the kelly stereo tools VST plugin. or find some other plugin that offers simple panning.

I've seen those LF and RF,  I guess that'll work but that seems pretty cut/dry.
So it doesn't appear you are able to pan "just a little" left/right with that option.

I downloaded reaper the other day, MUCH easier than Wavelab for Multitrack.

Thanks for the reply.

I looked around in the plugins I have, but didn't see much other than
"Autopan".  Didn't look for additional plugins.  Looks like I'll be using
Reaper (or not Wavelab at least) for Multitrack shows, it's just easier.

Thanks for the reply.
