Dynamic Range Compression in VLC
« on: June 01, 2012, 12:58:39 AM »
I just noticed that the new version of VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) has a Dynamic Range Compression tool built in. I live in an apartment and have to ride the volume control when I watch movies  >:( If I turn it up loud enough to understand the dialogue, there will suddenly be a car crash, or incredibly loud music.

I've just been fiddling with it, and here are the settings I'm using at the moment, but they're not as effective as I'd like:

Anybody want to suggest some general settings to play movies without disturbing the neighbors? Not very taping-related but I figured someone here would have an idea.
