My first SBD/AUD mix - how'd I do?
« on: March 03, 2006, 11:13:23 PM »
I volunteered to do this for a local artist that is up and coming.

Used Wavelab 5.0 to align the tracks, fix levels, and mix. All I did was lower the AUD about -7.5 dbs when I mixed.

Here's the AUD clip:

Here's the SBD patch:

Here's the final product:

Good? Bad? Need more AUD? I'd love to hear everyone's comments, as I want to do a good mix and get it to the girl as soon as I can. :)

Thanks ya'll.

Hey Jason,

I noticed no one responded to you yet, but I downloaded the MP3s and gave them a listen.  I think it sounds pretty good, but I don't think you get too much benefit out of doing a matrix for an acoustic show like that.  You certainly get some as it can help clarify the guitar parts and all that.  Did you just set the aud at a constant setting, or did you shape it in?  If anything, I'd bring the aud up at the end during the applause to get a better feel for the room.  I take it the mix is for the girl performing?  Do you know what she's expecting?  When I do a mix on my own, I do it for my ears, but if someone has asked me to do it, I might try to get an idea of what they want for it before I settle in.  Make any sense?

Good luck!

Well, since I posted this, I actually made another mix that has more AUD in it. It was a semi-pointless mix, but I wanted the experience anyways.

The aud is one level all the way through.

In terms of what she is looking for, just something good enough to send to her producer cause she is working on a new cd.

Thanks for the comments. :)
