Landlord has a stockpile of McIntosh gear...
« on: January 11, 2008, 04:52:27 PM »
Our building is owned by a guy in his 70's. He dropped by the other day to check up on some stuff and commented on m B&W's and then let me know that he has a bunch of older Mac gear at his house. He's the original owner of all of it and it isn't getting any use since he got married a few years back. He's supposed to be sending me a list of the gear he has

Never would have pegged this guy for an audio freak but I'm interested to see what he's sitting on...

oh yeah, I've seen a few in my day - never actually heard one but I've run across a few in local shops.

Mac was good solid stuff.  You have to like tube to like the older models.  I would worry about getting tubes for them.  But if you can glom onto the amps, go for it!   B&W ain't too shabby.  I almost bought then then top of the lines when I got my KEF's instead.  They were the old 801's, a stack of three boxes.  ;)  The KEF's sound fine.  You are lucky to be in a position to get those Macs.

I don't plan on buying any of it but I wouldn't mind borrowing some of it for a while
