Topic: another "can this be fixed" ?

the begining of the second set on my last tape has some serious stactic(about 1 min) and a couple big dropouts. i haven't tested it yet, but i suspect it's time to clean the pots on my mx-100.  i can smooth over the drops ok, but is there anything i can try to clean up all the static?
