Sounds like a good idea, Tim.
I just picked some up this past weekend, but I think I'll grab some more while they're there for the grabbing.

with the advent of LAMA, BT etc I'm just not that concerned about my archive of shns/flacs etc. All of my masters that I really care about are out there in circulation. If I have a CD crap out on me I'm sure I can find a replacement without too much trouble.

great idea, tim.  i've been archiving shn/flac shows onto dvdrs.

i still find japanese (TY) fujis at BestBuy sometimes. just gotta look out for the "Made In Japan" on the spindles.

i'm all about storing on HD's ;)

I eventually want to build an HD "caddy".  it will basically be tower of firewire HD's all daisy chained together and hot-swappable 8)

edit: DVDR's are a possibility now that i'm getting a G4 PB.  May have to look into that for my better recordings as backups.

from what I hear, the new Klone cd-r's at am-dig are TY made...much better top coat than that silver flaky crap they put on their own discs as well...I'm going to look into those because I hate the coating on TY's and have no intention of paying for printable discs...

And the Sultans... yeah the Sultans play creole

yes they are Heath...If your sw can tell the diff...put one in and you will see it is true. And the coating is the add-on that "makes them  better" than the TY's.

thanks for re-assuring me.  Back when I worked there, the silvers were made by someone else, and the golds were Mitsui.  Nice to see that the silvers are now TY.

I've had better luck findind the TY fuji's that come in the jewel case pack. They have the colored swirl on the top. At least near me BJ's has the colored ty fuji's all the time.

I use the white-face Taiyo Yudens.  IME the silver faces on every other brand I've used flakes off eventually.  The white-face, or other printable surface discs, seem more durable so far.
