DA-P1 functioning weirdly
« on: July 19, 2004, 12:09:20 PM »
Hi everyone,

Run the following setup.
neumann km140->
sonosax->
mod sbm1->
dap1  (or d8).

Taped an opening band last night and everything was going fine.
(have been having some problems with one channel on sbm1, so I didn't run that).

moved to a different location for the main band (big head todd)
things were not right,
managed to hook/rehook my stuff up 7-8 times.

what I figured out was that when the dap1 (which worked fine for the opening band).
went from record pause to record it lost the signal.

what  I ended up doing was using the dap1 as a mic pre/phantom power, in record pause.
and passed a digital sgnal to my d8 which recorded fine? I had pulled the sonosax out of the loop
in my troubleshooting process....

basically what I ended up with was

km140->
a pair of 10db attenuators in line->
dap1 -> (providing mic pre, phantom, and a/d
d8 (recording.)

anyone have any idea what would cause this?
(my initial guess is that it was a power issue?)

the 6v lead acid battery is fairly old (4-5 years).
I will do a voltage check on the battery tonight.

any thoughts?

I could send it in to get checked out...... but if it is something else.
i'd love the input.

thanks in advance

tim

did you lose the signal for sure, or just the meters? i.e. did you check with headphones? I briefly used a DA-P1 and could lose tracking, but the meters would bump and the show still got recorded. wondered if it might be similar.

good luck,
UJ
