Mac help needed
« on: January 13, 2004, 11:00:57 PM »
So I installed DVD Studio Pro 2 on my dual 1 ghz G4, running 10.2.6, 512 mb ram . . .  So I try and open the program and as it opens it quits, giving me the error message, "unexpectdly quit . . ." so after uninstalling and reinstalling same thing, I then create a new user and attempt to open in the new user profile, it works.  So my question is what do I need to do to open the program in my profile, corrupted prefs perhaps??  Any ideas on whats going wrong here/ how to fix it?

thanks,
Nick

if trashing the prefs didn't work, go to applications > utilities > disk utility and tell it to repair the disk permissions on the startup disk

also, 10.3 is MUCH faster than 10.2.6 :)

Yeah I'd like to upgrade to 10.3 but am running Ptools on that computer primarily and am scared of issues . . .  I'm just gonnna wait a bit till the bugs get worked out from Digidesigns  side

I know this is a dumb question, but what preference file do I trash?

There is no DVD Studio prefs in either folder, maybe becasue the program could never run?

Trying Disk Utility right now . . .

if it worked when you created a new user, but didn't under the old user, then I believe it's either prefs or permissions

when you said there was no dvd studio pro prefs, were you looking at all the files to see if dvd studio pro might have been in the name?  look to see if there's a file maybe called com.apple.DVDStudioPro or something.  i'll check at home to see what the actual dvd studio pro prefs file is

in ~/Library/Preferences
