I just bought a vert bar and will be using it with 460/480's. What are people using for shockmounts for this setup? I don't want to run the superlux mounts cuz they keep breaking on me. Also, the AT mounts are a little too bulky... the Shure A53M mounts look good but I've heard they're a tight fit for AKGs...
Any thoughts/recommendations? Thanks!

I have been using the older style Studio Projects C-4 shocks. They are a bit too big for the C-4's, so Studio Projects sent folks with the old style mounts new mounts with tighter cradles. I find the old cradles to be about perfect for my C-480's. I have heard that the Shure mount you mentioned is a real tight fit.

I'll have to check out the studio projects mounts. Are the newer ones too small for 480s then?

I use the AT 4010s when I need a lot of suspension, ie I know it will be a rowdy crowd and low-pro isn't an issue. I have been using the Superlux HK-32 mounts for the past several months with the shure bar. I keep them mounted to the Vert bar and just lign them up end to end and they store nicely. They are kinda cheap but if you are somewhat careful with them IME they will maintain. I just ordered another pair actually, $20 shipped, can't beat the price, and IMO there isn't too much else out there that is very low-pro and still provides some isolation.
I think the newer ones were a couple mm smaller than the older style, but should probably still fit. Check out the Joe Meek mounts and look at the size specs. They are essentially the same mount as the SP ones.

I'm having trouble finding the specs for those JM mounts... as for Superlux, I've owned several pairs already, and I don't like them. They just keep breaking even when I'm careful with them.

I use these:

Now that's what I'm talkin' about Dan, Thanks man! +T
How's the threading on these? Metal? Solid?
-
Ah, I see now... brass-plated thread. These looks great and low-profile... perfect for the vert bar! Sweet! Cheaper than the lux mounts too...
-
And they don't hog up space in your bag. ;)
-
Only one problem....
"Please no International orders."
Any kind soul want to help me out here and be an intermediary for the shipping to Canada?

The newer ones work, but I find them to be a bit too tight.

gotta love that auction...
Available in any color desired*
(*...as long as it's Black)
may have to check a pair of these out as well - Andrew PM me your address, I'll order two pairs

I used the AT 8410's when I had my 460's and Shure vert bar. I always just left the vert bar and shocks attached to my stand which made for easier set up and less room taken in my bag.
-
Dan, you should take some pics of your 480s in that vertbar + ebay mount setup... I'd love to see that!
-
I use a T-bar. ???

Oh, my bad.

These look to be similar mounts...
-
Yep, exact same ones. Olsen owns the Windtech line I believe.
-
if you want the best, you pay for it, the MOST DURABLE would have to be the AT 8415's w/ the k-tek heavy duty rubber mounts ;)

Bean,
Where did you get those orange cable/stand clips?

i like shure A53's, lowpro, just enough suspension.
-
they are good (the a53), and very small, unobtrusive.
but for under twenty, the NADY SD spider mount (faux schoeps a20) is hard to beat, imo.
-
nice. do have a metal inserts for the threads, or is it all plastic like the SP C4 mounts??
-
Bean, those mounts look beefy! I'm trying to keep my rig contained to a Nova 3 though, so those are pretty much out of the question for me... going to try out the cheap ebay windtech ones with terrapinj... we'll see how they do.

Has anyone used these with a 390? The 390's are a few mm's slimmer than the 480's I think. For the price it would
nice to keep a set of these in the bag.

Ya don't say eh? I'll keep 'em in mind for the future... next on the agenda, acquire a pelican 1060...

FWIW I never had that great of results with them holding cables to the stand. I find velcro straps hold much better. YMMV

I got one of these hoping it would work, but the sled is too wide maybe 22+. The 460 body is way loose in it. Maybe the one I got was a fluke though.

They have them out there in different sizes. The smallest is 19mm. The 20mm fits the 460/480s perfectly. Nice and snug, but not difficult to pull out.

they are a little wide, even for the peluso's. but a little bit of electrical tape on the mic body and they fit all nice nice
