Title: Audio Interface with S/PDIF In for M1 Macs
Post by: Sebastian on April 04, 2021, 07:45:24 AM
I'm officially done with waiting for Focusrite to get my Scarlett interface working on M1 macs. So I'm now in the market for an interface that has a digital input for DAT transfers and that actually works on the new Macs.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, working interface?

Audient iD 14 MK II has optical in and is compatible with Apple M1 silicon.  I own one of these new Audient iD 14 MK II units myself, picked it up to replace a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen that I passed over to someone who needed a simple audio interface for zoom meetings.  The AMZ link for a case below works great for protecting the interface for transporting or storage.

If you need coaxial s/pdif instead of optical then it looks like the new Antelope Audio Zen Go Synergy Core is also ready for Apple M1 silicon...

Which Focusrite Scarlett do you currently own?

Thanks, I’ll take a look at these.
I own a 1st gen Scarlett 18i8. What I really like about it is the fact that I can also use it as an 8 track interface for the occasional multitrack soundboard recording. I sometimes do FoH sound for smaller house concert gigs and it proved quite useable there.
I also have my eyes on the RME UC, but that’s in a whole different price range and I’m not yet sure whether I want to spend that much.
