Title: Feature Request
Post by: checht on March 17, 2022, 03:15:15 PM
Now that recorders are complex computers that communicate via bluetooth, there's a new kind of feature I'd love:
Fail notification
If the batteries are dying, or signal goes to zero for some user-definable period, the machine should pulse its lights and notify me.

With the MP II series plus big batts & SD cards, I really don't have to hover over the recorder like I'm used to. But I'm still doing it just in case.

Fail notifications would be sweet, and allow me to focus even less on recording and be able to be more present in the moment.

Thoughts?

Wouldn’t you worry about the fail notification feature not working?

Potentially meta failure of the failure alert system?

Seriously, this is a great idea which should become standard in remote apps.

Very cool idea.

I think the remote app is the right place for this function.
It already runs on a separate computer than the recorder (your phone or tablet)
I can hardly imagine wanting my actual recorder itself to push notifications.

What would this notification help?
It only costs.
Please leave it out.
I worked without such system(s) for long enough.
Tape down your buttons/switches/etc.
Use good, fresh, charged etc batteries.
Format your cards.
Cabling should be robust.
And you should be able to handle your gear with eyes closed.
